Lessons for entrepreneurs

Some words of wisdom relevant to entrepreneurs that appealed to me at the YAL summit last weekend...

Tarik Yousef, Dean of DSG:

-understand your environment

-move away from quick fixes and focus on a long term sustainable goal

-loyalty to your work

-do it yourself attitude because waiting on it won’t make it happen

-focus on expanding your skills rather than degrees, your careers rather than jobs

Rama Chakaki, CEO of Baraka Ventures:

-no does not mean no, it means find another alternative (in reference to words of a school teacher)

-learn from Coopetition which instills a sense of cooperation to competition

Fadi Ghandour, CEO of Aramex:

-an entrepreneur is in a business of finding solutions

-entrepreneurship is a skill and you are not born an entrepreneur

-believe in the power in each individual and feel an ownership in the future

-lets think small not big in reference to the small entrepreneurship initiatives out there

-we are a  culture that doesn't refuse failure so if you fail try again
